I found a fantastic idea today for quilters everywhere. I am working on finding out if it will work just as well and will keep this updated when I find out.
I went to Wal-Mart today and there were these sheets of white polyester with sprinkles of silver in them, they’re 100% polyester and flame retardent and just exactly like the polyester in the fabric department that’s 4-5.00 a yard. They are full yard sheets and they were 3.00 on sale for 75% off which makes them 75 cents a yard. I got like 30+ of them and will use them to make some of the quilts for people in need. I’ve been wondering how I was going to get the filling for the quilts, and bam it hit me when I was walking through all the on sale Christmas stuff. Excellent find! I can’t wait until they go on sale for 90% off, I’ll go to every Wal-Mart around and get every single one I can get my hands on. hehe

Woohoo!! I have 30+ quilts now! If you see any of them and would like to donate them I’ll gladly take them and make quilts with them. I have two truck loads of material now so the more of this batting I can get the more it will help to make quilts. Just shoot me an e-mail and I’ll meet ya at a Quik Trip somewhere to pick them up.
I picked up a truck load and I DO MEAN a truck load of fabric from Mel and her husband last week. There were 8 boxes, 3 large trash bags, about 6 smaller bags and 4 large spools of material. FANTASTIC! And a lot of it was already cut into squares which will help with the time of making the quilts. Thanks Mel!! And thanks to your Mother.
Am also going to pick up another truck load of material Saturday evening. Thanks Jerrica!! You rawk!
I haven’t decided exactly what type of organizations I will make the quilts for, for sure. So far I am leaning towards the homeless but will need to contact the city to find out how to get them to these people after I get some made. Maybe to shelters or something. Am also looking at senior homes, cancer patients, preemie babies since my little guy was born so early, and if you have any suggestions please let me know.
