Vote for my friends!

My friends from church Kris and Leane have entered a video contest in hopes that they get to meet Brad Paisley. Some other friends of theirs are in the video as well including my son’s future wife Addison. Oh yeah, he’s going to marry a rock star! I am SO going to be a stage Mother In Law. hehe

Go to KVOO.com and click on contest, then go to the bottom and their video is video # 6. It’s a really cute video so remember to go watch the video too. :)

Cake Decorating Class at Hobby Lobby

Click on the picture to see my first cake. Whew!

Hobby Lobby is having a special right now. It’s 50% off of their cake decorating class and then you can use your 40% off coupon for the cake decorating kit you need for the class.

Class was 17.50
Kit was 14.99
Total Cost 32.49 for a 4 week class Course 1
Per Week that ends up around 8.00 a class

In the beginning, there was cake.

Started with 4 layers out of 8×3 Wilton pans. Put vanilla pudding in between each layer of a confetti cake.

Here’s after it was iced and came home after the class at Hobby Lobby. I opened the door and showed it to my kiddo and he immediately stuck his tongue out and took a huge lick out of the icing on the front of it. hehehe! Too funny!

Here’s the happy boy.

Gimme some more a that frostin’ Mommy!

Here’s the spatula and yes he stuck the entire thing in his mouth.
He loves sugar as much as his Grams! hehe
He has no idea that I switched after a few bites to pudding.
He said even better Mommy! hehe

Finally we get to have a piece of the cake. I loved the confetti cake with vanilla pudding, however the frosting was too sweet for me but it almost always is. hehe My son loooooooved it!

Give me a call if you want a piece of cake! hehe

Quilting Update

The first 3 quilts go to Sabrena’s Family.

There’s a really nice lady on craigslist who is a single mom, has a 4 year old little girl, and is probably in the hospital right now having a baby boy. Her and her daughter are sleeping on the same bed that has springs sticking out of them and she didn’t have a baby bed or anything to get ready for her baby when he gets here.

I believe people on craigslist are donating a bed for her, one for her daughter and a baby bed too. The first quilts are going to her family. This is a black and white quilt I’ve been working on this weekend for her. Will also be making one for the baby boy and the little girl too. Will probably get those done in the next few days. I also have a huge thick comforter that I’ve had for over 10 years that I’m giving to her so they’ll be nice and warm.

My son stood up on his step stool and helped hand me each one of the black pieces with white flowers on them. He had a blast and it was lots of fun for both of us. Of course he wanted the blanket when it was done but he couldn’t have it. hehe He sure does love to help with all the cooking and crafts around here.

Just wanted to update the info so you can see the progress for all the people that have donated stuff for the quilting.

Have a HazyDazy Day!

My tip for today …

Hello Everyone! More stuff comin’ soon… Just been busy takin’ classes and working on stuffs! I’m taking a cake decorating class and a quilting class. Woohoo!!! I’ll be posting again very soon. :) Have a Hazy Dazy Day!

My tip for today is: When you get one of those annoying calls from a telemarketer that’s a voice message and you can’t get them to stop calling you press 3 on your phone and it’ll usually take your number off of their calling list. If that number doesn’t work start at 9 and work your way down to 1 one of them will remove you or it will eventually give you an operator and you can ask them to remove your number. :)

Quilts for people in need …

I found a fantastic idea today for quilters everywhere. I am working on finding out if it will work just as well and will keep this updated when I find out.

I went to Wal-Mart today and there were these sheets of white polyester with sprinkles of silver in them, they’re 100% polyester and flame retardent and just exactly like the polyester in the fabric department that’s 4-5.00 a yard. They are full yard sheets and they were 3.00 on sale for 75% off which makes them 75 cents a yard. I got like 30+ of them and will use them to make some of the quilts for people in need. I’ve been wondering how I was going to get the filling for the quilts, and bam it hit me when I was walking through all the on sale Christmas stuff. Excellent find! I can’t wait until they go on sale for 90% off, I’ll go to every Wal-Mart around and get every single one I can get my hands on. hehe :) Woohoo!! I have 30+ quilts now! If you see any of them and would like to donate them I’ll gladly take them and make quilts with them. I have two truck loads of material now so the more of this batting I can get the more it will help to make quilts. Just shoot me an e-mail and I’ll meet ya at a Quik Trip somewhere to pick them up.

I picked up a truck load and I DO MEAN a truck load of fabric from Mel and her husband last week. There were 8 boxes, 3 large trash bags, about 6 smaller bags and 4 large spools of material. FANTASTIC! And a lot of it was already cut into squares which will help with the time of making the quilts. Thanks Mel!! And thanks to your Mother. :)

Am also going to pick up another truck load of material Saturday evening. Thanks Jerrica!! You rawk!

I haven’t decided exactly what type of organizations I will make the quilts for, for sure. So far I am leaning towards the homeless but will need to contact the city to find out how to get them to these people after I get some made. Maybe to shelters or something. Am also looking at senior homes, cancer patients, preemie babies since my little guy was born so early, and if you have any suggestions please let me know.

Cox Phone Service for $1

The newest information I found on places to get help if you’re receiving any type of assistance on your housing, utilities, food, etc., is through Cox Communications.

When you hook up your phone services or even after you’ve already had them hooked up call Cox and tell them you’re receiving assistance of any type and they’ll change your phone line to only cost you it was either $1 or $1.95 a month. Isn’t that fantastic? It will sure help with the costs of your utilities and stuff. Then you will have a phone hooked up for emergency services that you need like 911 or calling doctor’s offices and stuff. They will also offer you discounted rates on line features such as voice mail, long distance calling, etc. I do not have exact prices on those or I would post but you can call 806-0600 and they’ll tell you everything they can offer. They will also send you a letter in the mail which will just state “I am receiving the following types of assistance at this time” and you just sign it and send it back in to them.
