My first real attempt at Fried Chicken!

Ok so like I tried to make fried chicken years and years ago and it came out terrible. LOL No-one else would eat it. I liked it ’cause it was cooked in butter but chicken and butter aren’t so hot to everyone else I guess. LOL

This is my first real attempt to make fried chicken tonight.

2 Eggs with some salt and pepper. Dip your chicken in it and smuzh it with some love. Then go to the flour.

I used about a cup of bread flour, 1 tsp salt, lots of pepper (I like lots of pepper on everything), A palm full of paprika, palm full of cumin and about 1/2 a palm full of ground red pepper. Mix this with a whisk, then put your chicken in there and cover it good with flour and stuff. Then straight to the pan.

Straight to the skillet. I used about 1/2″ of canola oil and got it real hot then turned it down to medium when it started to sizzle up. And I only did wings so I let them sit in this on medium high for 5 minutes on each side. I just sat a timer on the microwave to help me remember the time.

Extra yummy goodness! And trust me, it was quite fantastic. Woohoo! I did it! hehe And my son said Fried Chicken for the first time tonight. He says chicken all the time but I taught him how to say “fried” chicken now. And boy his eyes lit up when I gave him a piece of this chicken. hehe

Tulsa State Fair

This was the big hit of the fair I think. The Strawberry Newberg!

Well we went to the fair yesterday to use the tickets Zane won. High School Musical was great! It was like watching Dirty Dancing, Grease and Grease II all mixed together. Was too cool. And on ice! It was even more fantasticer!

We also stayed the rest of the day and ate lots of goodies and saw tons of stuff. Grams, Grampa and Destiny took Zane on the sky ride for the first time. He LOVED it! They said he watched and was so excited the entire time. When he came back he was telling me all about it as fast as he could.

Some of my favorite things were spending time with Grams and Grampa and Destiny was too cool. Then there was the cake contests, the animals, Oak Ridge Boys concert, and then there was the Srawberry Newberg. I think this was the best food I found at the fair. I always like to try new things and this one was great. It had a huge piece of filo dough fried up, pudding on top, then another piece of filo dough on top, smothered in strawberries and strawberry sauce and a huge thing of whipped cream on top! It was FANFREAKINTASTIC! I asked if they had a web site that I could use to link to their stuff and she said no. She didn’t have a business card either. She should really get those things. :) Anyway, here are some pictures!

The Sky Ride

I thought this was the best cake there. It was beautiful!

There were tons of cakes.

Mona Lisa … Yeah can you believe this is sugar art? That’s pretty darn creative.

I thought this one was really really pretty.

Watched a cooking show.

Saw some animals. Whatta happy little monkey. hehe

My son helped the Oak Ridge Boys entertain the audience. He danced for a long time.

And finally! The Strawberry Newberg. YUMMMMY!

I’ve still got it Baby!

I haven’t played softball since I was a kid!

Zane and I went with a friend and her kids to a batting cage today just for fun. I’ve still got it. I couldn’t hit a single one on the 140 mile an hour baseball pitches but I could hit 10  or 11 out of 12 on the softball pitches and they all went total right where I put ‘em! hahah My friend Erika said she’d want me on her team. I’m not too good at running though. :) lol I can do it, just really don’t like to. LOL
